If you are one of those hundreds of ladies who suffer from pelvic floor issues like urinary incontinence or prolapse and worried about the use of mesh, please be assured. There are number of other treatment options that you can choose from. As per recent guidance, your doctor should discuss non-surgical and surgical treatment options regarding your condition. If you do require surgery, you can choose the operation that does not require use of nylon mesh. For urinary incontinence, you can have Colposuspension, autologous slings or bulking agents. For prolapse you can have a pelvic floor repair using native tissue (your own tissue).

A Urogynaecologist are well placed to treat all urinary symptoms including recurrent urinary infections in women. Urinary infections are very common in women. The causes of that are more likely to be interlinked with the gynaecological issues like menopause, prolapse, vaginal infections, vulvovaginal atrophy. The treatment of your recurrent urinary infections does require concomitant treatment of these urogynaecological conditions as well. This is why in most cases these conditions are being treated in Urogynaecology clinics.

Not all ovarian cysts are harmful. Most of them are benign and many of them may settle on their own. Once scan is performed and type of the cyst is determined, depending on size and type of the cyst and your symptoms the course of action is decided. Sometimes additional blood test is required to determine the type of cyst.

Surgery may be needed if the cysts are persistent, if they increase in size or if there are symptoms. If there is a suspicion of cancer, urgent surgery is necessary to make a diagnosis and also to provide treatment.

Whether the surgery involves removing only the cyst or the entire ovary depends upon your age and what is found during the procedure. If malignancy is suspected, then the ovary should be removed in order to avoid rupture and spillage of the cyst content. In every other case though, only the cyst will be removed.
